Stefan Stolarchuk is an Ann Arbor native. He began his musical studies on the euphonium in 5th grade. While at Huron High School, he began playing the trombone in order to be a member of the jazz band. He soon started playing the bass trombone, and quickly fell in love with the instrument, and its role both in the jazz band and the orchestra. Stefan attended Bowling Green State University, and received his Bachelor's in Trombone Performance in 2008. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he received his Master's degree in Trombone Performance in 2010. He currently studies with Randy Hawes, the bass trombonist of the Detroit Symphony. Stefan is a member of Ed Nuccilli's Plural Circle Jazz Orchestra, and he has performed extensively with other jazz ensembles in the Detroit Area. He has also performed with a number of orchestras in the Southeast Michigan area, including the Plymouth-Canton, Livonia, and Adrian Symphony Orchestras. You can hear him on recordings with the BGSU Philharmonia Orchestra, the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, and the Hot Springs Music Festival Orchestra.
Personal Statement
Music is my life; I have not found something that I find more satisfying, from the standpoints of performing, listening, and studying. Had I not grown up in this city, I'm not sure I would have had the same opportunities to develop this love, and I feel that it is my responsibility to give back to the community so that these same opportunities may be bestowed on somebody else.
Schedule
Very flexible hours. Any ages.
